Beatus Hofrichter is working as a sculptor in his own studio in Switzerland since 2005. His works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and France. 

 

He creates conceptually abstract sculptures and often invents unique narratives for each of his works. Already in his early work, he sought to elicit forms in stone, abstract bronze forms, kiln-casted glass plastics, and mixed media installations. He seeks statical limits, emphazising transparency, lightness, and fragility. Recently, he explored a more pictorial layer to his three-dimensional oeuvre.

 

He focuses on the human character and man's concealed flaws, which influence and govern daily interactions. Here, he seeks to reveal the energies happening in a pivotal or metaphoric moment within a given narrative. Going "beneath the skin” guides the viewer to see the complexity unfold between individuals in the moment of their decisive entanglement. Moreover, he highlights the invisible within a portrayed tragedy, thus making it comprehensible and tangible to the observer. Recent works center on the discrepancy between being either too visionary or too conservative. Both leave matters often unfinished to realize their ambitions. The former ones tend to seek new horizons, conquering new frontiers, and technologies. The essence of his work is reflected in the pureness of the form, which makes clear to the viewer the rarely expressed conduct - that we often encounter in everyday life.
